Managing Director, M&A Transaction Advisory & Financial Due Diligence

CPA

Xinkai “Kevin” Hu is a Managing Director in Perrin & Co.’s M&A Transaction Advisory & Financial Due Diligence practice. A Certified Public Accountant with extensive transaction and financial advisory experience, Kevin advises buyers, sellers, investors, private equity firms, corporate clients, and executive teams on the financial and operational factors underlying significant transactions.

Kevin brings substantial Big Four transaction experience from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), where he served as a Financial Due Diligence Manager and led buy-side and sell-side diligence across transactions ranging from approximately $100 million to $3 billion. His experience includes transactions involving private equity firms, corporate clients, Fortune 500 companies, carve-outs, and cross-border situations.

His work focuses on understanding the financial performance and economic characteristics that can ultimately influence transaction value and structure. Kevin has conducted quality-of-earnings analysis, revenue and margin analysis, working-capital assessments, free-cash-flow validation, operational KPI analysis, and financial forecast evaluation. He has advised senior professionals and clients on transaction risks, value drivers, financial trends, and issues affecting valuation and deal structure.

Kevin’s transaction experience extends beyond financial analysis. He has supported transactions from LOI negotiation through closing, including funds-flow analysis, data-room management, investor communications, multidisciplinary diligence coordination, and evaluation of financial forecasts against broader deal strategy. He has worked alongside tax, operations, human resources, analytics, legal, and other specialists as part of complex transaction teams.

His background also includes extensive public-company assurance experience at PwC, where he worked with Consumer Markets and Industrial Products companies on financial reporting, GAAP analysis, internal controls, SOX compliance, debt offerings, forensic projects, internal audits, and carve-outs. This accounting foundation provides additional perspective when evaluating the quality, sustainability, and reliability of financial information presented during a transaction.

Beyond his Big Four experience, Kevin provides CFO-level financial advisory to growing businesses, including budgeting, financial modeling, market sizing, capital strategy, investor readiness, fundraising support, debt structuring, internal controls, accounting systems, and operational scalability. His experience spans businesses and investment opportunities across real estate development, modular housing, manufacturing, biotechnology, and other growth-oriented sectors.

This combination of transaction advisory, accounting expertise, and operating-finance experience allows Kevin to evaluate a transaction from multiple perspectives. He understands not only what the historical financial information shows, but how working capital, cash flow, operating performance, forecasts, controls, and capital requirements may affect the business after a transaction closes.

At Perrin & Co., Kevin works alongside the firm’s mergers and acquisitions, capital structure, institutional credit, tax, financial leadership, commercial real estate, and other advisory professionals. He may lead financial due diligence and transaction-analysis engagements independently or serve as the financial diligence specialist within a broader multidisciplinary M&A engagement.

His role strengthens Perrin & Co.’s ability to help clients move through significant transactions with greater visibility into the financial performance, risks, opportunities, and value drivers underlying the deal.

Kevin's transaction advisory work supports Perrin & Co.'s M&A and Business Advisory and Capital Structure work.
